Great Services, Lost Revenue

Healthcare leaders face a constant tension: how do you deliver better care while increasing revenue, without overburdening staff, adding headcount, or introducing more complexity?

For many clinics, the answer lies in better using what they already have: the people, the time, and the visits already on the schedule. Often, care opportunities go unrealized simply because teams don’t have the visibility or coordination to act in the moment.

One rural FQHC changed that, embedding oral health services directly into pediatric workflows using Stat’s real-time coordination tools. They generated over $260,000 in new revenue from fluoride treatments and dental onboarding without hiring a single new team member.

Real-Time Fluoride = Real-Time Value

Kaniksu Community Health leveraged Stat’s Oral Health Integration (OHI) icon to reinvent how time between steps in a visit could be used for integrated care delivery. During Well Child Check appointments, Medical Assistants tapped the OHI icon after intake, instantly alerting dental hygienists—located just down the hall—that a pediatric patient was ready for an oral health touchpoint. Available hygienists could step into the visit seamlessly. No extra coordination, no added complexity.

In less than 10 minutes, hygienists were able to:

  • Offer and deliver a fluoride varnish
  • Provide oral health education and perform a preventive oral screening
  • Facilitate a dental home referral by onboarding the child as a new patient and setting a dental appointment

By activating care within the patient’s wait time, Kaniksu improved outcomes and unlocked new value—both clinically and financially.

Monetizing Missed Moments

For this clinic, embedding oral health services into pediatric workflows drove measurable returns:

  • $199,000 in additional revenue from fluoride treatments
  • $63,000 in revenue from new dental patients
  • 450 new dental patients established
This isn’t just good business. It’s better care.

The Takeaway

By using Stat to unlock the economic potential of unused time, this FQHC advanced its mission and its margin. Preventive care became both a clinical imperative and a revenue strategy without complexity or cost.
